EFI Closure Statement: We are so sad to announce, English for Internationals has closed. We'd like to say thank you to our staff, students, and the global community for your support during the 30 years of our operation. Your trust allowed us to provide ESL courses to international students from 5 of the 7 continents totaling over 20,000 students from all over the world. It was our joy and privilege to serve and encourage you in your professional and personal lives. We hope the memories you have from being a part of the EFI family will live in your heart like they do in ours.
Sincerely,It is very common for people to travel during the winter months. Oftentimes, people who travel internationally around the holiday season and new year are visiting family in other parts of the world or simply visiting a new destination. For many, international travel can be chaotic, confusing, and intimidating. If you want some tips for having a great international travel experience, then English for Internationals, an Atlanta English school, has a few tips, pointers, and insights to help your trip go smoothly.
Schedule your trip far enough in advance so that you have plenty of time to get proper documentation to travel internationally. For example, you might need to apply for a new passport if yours is expiring.
Foreign transaction fees can cost you up to about 3 percent depending on your credit card provider. We advise that you use cash for all your international transactions. This can help you avoid going over budget while saving you money on each transaction.
When traveling internationally, consider how long you will be gone and how much medicine you will need over that time. If you need to take medicine on a daily or weekly basis, pack enough so that you do not run out during your trip. When flying, always check with TSA’s guidelines regarding medication. If the amount that you need exceeds TSA’s requirements, then consider checking your bag rather than taking it as a carry-on. This applies to prescription and over-the-counter medication. When flying to a foreign place, pack enough over-the-counter medicine – such as ibuprofen – just in case your destination does not have it available for sale. Of course, this tip is exclusively if you require medicine on a regular basis.
Before you leave for your trip, make sure you are all caught up. We advise that you pay all bills before leaving so you do not miss any deadlines. In addition to accounting for childcare, arrange to have someone check on your house and pets if you have any. If you have a residence in the U.S., you can contact USPS to put your mail on hold while you are away.
When traveling internationally, it’s always a good idea to check with a doctor beforehand. Learn which – if any – vaccinations you will need for your destination. Learn more about this on the CDC’s website.
